Avocet Mining PLC is a gold mining company with assets in West Africa and South East Asia. It operates three gold mines – Inata, (Burkina Faso, West Africa), Penjom (Malaysia) and North Lanut (Indonesia). Avocet also has a pipeline of exciting exploration projects and strong professional management teams in place at each of its business units.
In December 2010 Avocet announced that it had signed a binding agreement for the conditional sale of its South East Asian assets to J&Partners, L.P, a private company, for US$200 million in cash. The transaction with J&Partners will leave Avocet as a West African gold producer with a clear strategy for growth in that region.
