Hutchison Whampoa Limited (HWL) is an international corporation, whose activities are focused on five core businesses: ports and related services; property and hotels; retail; energy, infrastructure, finance and investments and others, and telecommunications. It is a privately owned container terminal operator, holding interests in 45 ports comprising 257 berths in 23 countries. It holds a rental portfolio of approximately 16 million square feet of office, commercial, industrial and residential premises, principally in Hong Kong, as well as interests in a number of joint-venture developments in Mainland China and selective overseas markets. A.S. Watson & Company, Limited is the Company’s retail arm, which has over 7,700 retail stores in 36 markets. Its investments in energy and infrastructure are principally in Hong Kong, the Mainland, Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom. As of July 4, 2007, the Company had acquired over 50% of Hutchison Telecommunications International Limited.
